Forgotten Realms

As noted in our rules, one doesn't need to have a character sheet as a prerequisite for play in Visions of Faerūn. Character sheets and dice rolling are more than welcomed, though. The room runs mainly on the third edition D20 system, but if you have second or even first edition characters that you'd like to play, that's perfectly fine. We will accommodate them.
If you would like to create a third edition character, but don't have all the necessary information (I.E., books.), feel free to ask the storyteller, Brynne. She will be more than happy to talk you through the process and help you out.

Dice rolling, even stats, aren't at all necessary. It is easy to create a character and play him/her without a character sheet. So long as whatever character one plays is 'compatible' with characters from a Dungeons and Dragons setting, they should be fine in VoF.

When it comes to combat, using the dice roller like one would at a tabletop game can help things along pretty well. It leaves it to chance to see whether an opponent is struck by an attack or not, and eliminates any chance of godmoding. However, the dice make things tricky if characters from different game editions are playing, as the combat rules have changed. That would be when the dice become more of a hindrance than a help. Either way, it's no more necessary to use the dice than it is to have a character sheet.

Visions of Faerūn, a role playing room based around the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, can be found at Warp1 dot Net.
