The Freelance Hunters come from a vast array of backgrounds. Some of them are ex-Governmental Hunters; just as many are ex-Ecclesiastical Hunters who, for whatever reason, left the church. Still more of them are the victims of Predator cruelty, be they an escaped thrall, someone who lived through an attack, or a family member of someone murdered by a Predator.Among the numbers of the Freelancers are some of the most laughably hopeless, as well as some of the most threatening and dangerous, Hunters alive. They often carry a personal grudge, something which is frowned upon by the church and governments. It can, however, be a good thing, because it gives the hunter a determination, drive, and focus that many others might not have.
Freelance Hunters sometimes lack the coordination and direction of their Governmental and Ecclesistical counterparts, often working alone although it is not unheard of for a group of Freelancers to work together. Many of them are natural leaders and problem-solvers, however, and don't really need direction. Because of their mixed backgrounds and wide set of beliefs, Freelance Hunters don't have any set of rules or routines that they follow for hunting Predators. Their equipment is often as widely varied as their beliefs, backgrounds, and region of operation.
